The Grimsby Institute Group is a large, innovative, dynamic and financially sound organisation. We are officially an “outstanding” educational provider.

The BA (Hons) Design course focuses on the role of Design in the contemporary creative industries and broader visual culture. The course is a choice for students who want to commit to an innovative programme of studio based study. The Course is situated within a new art and design building next to the University Centre Grimsby building.

Reporting to and working with the Curriculum Manager for HE Digital & Creative Industries, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a practicing designer, preferable with experience of graphic design and illustration using both traditional and digital methods to join this dynamic course. The main focus on the role will be to lead, develop, deliver, support and assess modules that challenge students to define and refine their specialist design practice. You will support their development of an informed understanding of the historic, contemporary and professional contexts in which applied design exists. Our students engage in a range of approaches to design. You will have a strong understanding of how to support specialist Design practices within a broader creative context.  You will be expected to deliver the practical, conceptual and contextual aspects of the course in addition to supporting research and writing skills. You will also need the skills or connections to build links with FE colleagues, appropriate external organisations, events and opportunities for publishing and exhibiting student work. Working individually and as a member of a team you will be expected to deliver teaching within a variety of settings including lectures, seminars, studio workshops, peer reviews and individual tutorials. The successful candidate will be expected to engage with the Institutes research agenda.

In return for your experience and skills, we can offer you a good salary, pension membership (TPS), access to a wide range of other Group benefits and opportunities for career and personal development progression.
